Why We Use Just Two Types of Starter Combinations

Sinless Sourdough Starter Types

In the Sinless Sourdough recipe series, we use only 2 types of starters across our three collections:

  1. Fiber Flora Series: Uses a starter made with oat fiber + vital wheat gluten
  2. Lifestyle Lina and Discard Diva Series: Both use a starter made with almond flour + coconut flour

For Adventurous Bakers

If you’re a baking explorer, you might want to purchase an additional Sinless Sourdough low carb dehydrated starter and experiment with other low carb ingredient combinations on your own.

Please note that the Sinless Sourdough™ membership includes recipes only for the specific starter combinations listed above. Our recipes have been carefully tested and perfected using these particular ingredient combinations to ensure reliable results.

Best Low-Carb Starter Combination Blend Comparisons:

Fiber Flora: Oat Fiber & Vital Wheat Gluten

  • Ingredients: 1 pkg Sinless starter + 1 tbsp oat fiber + 1 tbsp vital wheat gluten
  • Water Needed: 4-6 tbsp spring water per feeding
  • Fermentation: Robust fermentation with excellent oven spring and great structure
  • Ideal For: Artisan breads, baguettes, bagels, pretzels, sandwich loaves, and baked goods using oat fiber & vital wheat gluten

  • Ideal For: Savoury baked goods, high-protein recipes, and items using coconut flour & lupin flour
  • Special Note: Lupin flour has an earthy and bitter taste
